How does scar camouflage work?
During the treatment, we apply micro-pigments in and around the scar. These pigments are carefully matched to your own hair and skin colour, so that the scar blends into the surrounding skin. The colour difference is eliminated and the skin takes on a fuller, even appearance.
How does it work?
Using a wafer-thin needle, tiny dots of natural pigments are applied to the head just below the surface of the skin. The colour is carefully matched to your natural hair colour. In this way, a 'shaven look' is created or a fuller hair density is suggested than is actually there.
Normal tattoos can turn blue over time. With MHP, this is not the case. Because the ink is placed less deeply and is broken down by the body in about 2 to 5 years, it does not fade to a blue colour. Also, the ink is hypoallergenic and contains only natural pigments.
I'd be happy to explain how we work at BALD Pigment, so you know exactly what to expect.
1. FREE AND FAIR ADVICE
You first send a few clear photos of your head. I will look at your skin type, zones, hairline shape, and what best suits your face. You will receive honest advice about what is and isn't achievable.
2. PERSONAL CARE PLAN
Based on your situation, we will determine the number of sessions (usually 3 + 1 touch-up). Together with me, you will choose your hairline style: natural, sharp, or something in between. Everything will be tailored to your age, skin, and desired look.
3. PREPARATION
Beforehand, we'll discuss all the do's and don'ts.
- Don't shave before the appointment
- no sunbeds
- no strenuous training shortly before or after the treatment
- how the skin best reacts
4. THE TREATMENT
The first session is built up very gently and naturally. We create the base density and a realistic hairline that perfectly suits your face. The treatment usually takes 2–3 hours.
5. THE SECOND AND THIRD SESSIONS
Here we add more density, refine the hairline and ensure everything perfectly matches your skin tone and existing hair. There is a 1-week gap between each session.
6. NEGOTIATION & RESULT
You will receive clear aftercare instructions. The result is immediately visible and becomes increasingly beautiful after each session. The mock-up I create already gives a good impression — but the final result always becomes even more beautiful and softer.
7. TOUCH-UP
After about six weeks, you can (if necessary) do a touch-up to finish the job off.
For our treatments, we use the Norwood Scale. This scale divides the scalp into different zones. An average treatment consists of 2 to 3 zones. The starting price for a treatment zone is €749.00. The average treatment costs €2,100.00. The cost for a touch-up is €749.00, depending on the number of zones and the fading of the pigment.
Who is the Micro Hair Pigmentation treatment suitable for?
MHP is suitable for men suffering from baldness, reduced hair density and/or scars on the head causing a lot of colour difference.
Who is Micro Hair Pigmentation treatment not suitable for?
MHP is not suitable for people with extreme allergies, eczema on the scalp and when taking certain medications.
How short should hair be shaved for Micro Hair Pigmentation treatment?
If the 'shaven look' is the desired result, it is best to shave the hair to a length of 0.5 to 1 millimetre one day before the treatment. While doing so, disinfect the razor or razor blade to avoid inflammation. When optical density is desired, it is also possible to work between longer and pre-existing hairs.
When should a touch-up session take place?
Touch-up sessions are used to maintain the natural and fresh look. New pigments are placed during these sessions. How often a touch-up session is needed depends on the skin and lifestyle. If this session is waited longer, it will take more time and therefore take more time.
How long does a treatment last?
A complete treatment takes at least 3 sessions to achieve the desired result. A session takes 2 to 4 hours on average, of course this also varies per person and desired result.
Will the result fade?
Slight fading may occur when your desired result is achieved. Provided you follow proper aftercare, the result of the MHP will hold up well.
Is the treatment painful?
No, the treatment is circumscribed by most clients as mild discomfort but not painful.
What is the aftercare procedure?
After the treatment, you will receive full aftercare guidelines from us. The scalp should not be shaved or washed for 4 days after treatment, and no intensive exercise should be done for 7 days due to excessive sweating. For 4 weeks after treatment, you are advised to wear a high factor sunscreen and avoid swimming pools.
