At BALD Pigment, you're in the best hands. We specialise in the safe and effective removal of tattoos, MHP pigments, and old permanent make-up (PMU) such as poorly executed or discoloured eyebrows. Thanks to our new Pico Second Laser, the latest and most advanced laser available today, we can remove pigments from the deepest layers of the skin, faster and safer than ever before. On average, a regular tattoo is completely removed within 5 to 6 treatments. The exact duration depends on factors such as age, size, colour intensity, and the quality of the pigment. You've also come to the right place for the removal or correction of MHP. In most cases, the pigment is significantly reduced or completely gone within just 1 to 2 treatments. Additionally, we also remove poorly executed PMU eyebrows or discoloured pigments, which typically requires 1 to 3 treatments. At BALD, we treat both black and coloured tattoos with medical precision and always use a professional skin cooler for extra comfort during the procedure. Do you live in Germany? Our studio in Heerlen is just 20 minutes from Aachen. We welcome clients from Aachen, Herzogenrath, Alsdorf, and the entire Euregio with open arms!
The cost of tattoo removal is always based on a joint consultation. Removing a tattoo depends on the size, wear and tear and the type and depth of ink used.
How long does a treatment last?
Removing a tattoo depends on the size, abrasion and the type and depth of ink used.
Can my tattoo be removed completely?
The tattoo can be removed completely but this also depends on the tattoo. Together we estimate how many treatments we will need, however, this cannot always be predicted. Removing a tattoo depends on its size, wear and tear, and the type and depth of ink used.
Is treatment reimbursed by health insurers?
Unfortunately, as far as we know, no health insurer covers tattoo removal.
When to delay treatment?
- When you tan from the sun from the sunbed
- For recent tattoos (less than 8 weeks old)
- In case of fever
- When taking antibiotics and skin-thinning drugs
- In case of pregnancy
- In epilepsy that is not controlled
- When undergoing chemotherapy of radiotherapy
- When there are metal prostheses under your tattoo
- When you have a pacemaker
- In autoimmune diseases
Does removing a tattoo hurt?
The experience of pain varies from person to person and also depends on the location of the tattoo. Generally, the sensation is described as a rubber band shot against the skin. A tattoo on the ribs or fingers, for example, can be a bit more sensitive than on the shoulder or upper arm.
At BALD, we make sure the treatment is as comfortable as possible. We use a professional skin cooler that blows ice-cold air onto the skin during the laser treatment. This has a mild anaesthetic effect and significantly reduces the burning sensation, making the treatment more tolerable.
Pain-free lasering is possible?
Pain-free laser treatment is possible with the use of an anaesthetic ointment, which leaves the skin numb. For this, however, you should apply special anaesthetic ointment more than an hour beforehand.
How long will it take for my tattoo to go away?
Together we estimate how many treatments we will need, however, this cannot always be predicted. Removing a tattoo depends on the size, wear and tear and the type and depth of ink used.
Every how many weeks am I allowed another treatment?
Our advice is to leave an average of 8 weeks between treatments, sometimes longer. Shorter than 8 weeks makes no sense at all. The body has to clear the ink particles on its own and that takes time. So the longer you give the body time to dispose of the ink particles, the more results you will get from the treatment and the fewer treatments you will need.
